Good afternoon dear members of the presidency, delegates and visitors.
After five days of scientific work and exchange of experiences we gathered in plenary session for closing the “Convención Agropat 2022”.
This event had an attendance of 550 participants from prestigious scientific and teaching institutions, students, organizations, enterprises, associations and national and international primary farmers. We were honored with the presence of 113 colleagues from 18 countries: Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Chile, Brazil, Ecuador, Honduras, Argentine, Peru, Venezuela, Guatemala, Panama, Spain, Italy, France, Senegal and Benin, and Cuba.
There were 440 studies presented through lectures, round-table discussions, panels, oral and poster presentations. In addition, in the associate exhibition we had the presence of research institutions, teaching and production, international collaboration projects. Books, brochures, products, technologies and other services related with production and animal welfare were presented.
The business round auspices by the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba, was attended by national and foreign entities. There were presents as part of the information kit from different entities, 192 proposals among products, services and technologies that search to satisfied demands, from national solutions which contribute to food safety and its links to productive systems. There were bilateral meetings between the different entities. Products tests were agreed in research centers from Cuba for future evaluations and technologies transfer.
On the other hand, meetings between managers from different institutions were performed to sign agreements that will increase the national and international collaboration and scientific exchanges in different topics related to the tropical animal production.
The topics deal with in the scientific program attracted the attention of the attendees and led to high attendance in the different halls, as well as motivated and interesting interventions by the participants, without mentioning all the exchange carried out outside them.
The pre-congress workshop Open Science focus its discussion in the challenges and priorities in its future development, the diffusion media, scientific promotion and its main aspects, as well as the ethic risks in the Open Science.
The “VII Congreso Americano de Cunicultura” deals with the production and commercialization of rabbit, the political will of countries for the species development, the components of the rabbit- change value and the use of alternative feeding in the diet of those animals.
In the 2ND Tithonia Simposium were showed reliable results for its application in the productive sector depending of the geographical region of each country. There are highlight Tithonia materials, as well as important advances in bird feeding and the production of botanic seed. It is recommended to continue studies of soil fertility, the entomafauna and the management of grazing systems.
Once again, the role of youth in researchers and its spreading in agricultural social practice and in the food and nutritional safety programs was highlighted. The work of university students plays an important role in the program "Sembrar Con-ciencia" which is its participation in adviser and introduction processes in the social practice. The Instituto de Ciencia Animal invites you to participate in Décimo Encuentro Internacional de Jóvenes Agropecuarios INTERJOVEN 2024 that will be held on June with the advertising slogan Día Mundial del Medio Ambiente.
In the different workshops the main discussed topics were related with:
-
Climatically intelligent livestock which include the feeding and management systems
-
The contribution from the different fields of animal science in the Latin American region to economic sustenance, food safety, environmental integrity and human health
-
Strengthening of the national research systems, technology transfer and innovation, to achieve the expected impact on social and economic development, sustainable and friendly with the environment
-
National and regional integration and collaboration and exchange of information to develop public policies and institutional frameworks that promote sustainable low-emissions livestock
-
Improve livestock production, its products and byproducts, minimizing environmental impacts, and specifically the net emissions of Greenhouse Gases (GHGs)
-
Use of agro-industrial byproducts and its derivates and autochthonous resources in the feeding of different animal species
-
The sustainability of beekeeping and aquaculture, its relation with environmental policy and the diversification of the market of its products
-
Development of additives and nutritional supplements, use of nanotechnology and nanosciencie, use of enzymes and handicrafts processes in animal nutrition
-
Need of having proper strategies and policies that allow a fast introduction of technologies in the social practice, considering its financing
-
Other matter such as livestock innovation, application of agroecological practices, good practices and sustainable technologies, systematization of experiences of projects from small giving of PNUD in Cuba and exchange with farmers, the public policies to stimulate the sector advance, diverse successful experiences on innovation and regional development, realities, perspectives and livestock challenges, the rural women in its role for the sustainable development and rural tourism were deal with.
-
The importance and practical application of statistical models in livestock systems; multivariate methods for the support and analysis of innovation processes and technology transfer; contribution of the mathematical modeling for the analysis of biological processes and bioinformatics and econometric models applied to livestock science
-
The bioenergy, biochar or biocarbon, experiences and perspectives in the integration Science- Enterprise, the bioeconomic and the region development for livestock opportunities
-
Grasses and forage production in the climate change context, recovery of seed production, use of byproducts, agroecological alternatives for its use, the productive stability of livestock systems and the relation soil-plant-animal and the conservation of phytogenetic resources
Important was the presentation of results reached by primary farmers in the process of adoption and technologies transfer. Once again, the need to link science with social practice was demonstrated.
Like any human endeavor, we were not exempt from some difficulties that, fortunately, were solved in the course of time. We offer our apologies and hope for your understanding.
This convention confirmed, once again, the need to continue with a space for dialogue among researchers, teachers, farmers and students of national and international agricultural sector that allows the creation of partnerships, networks and exchanges required to continue contributing to the noble purpose of producing healthy and innocuous food of animal origin, and to nutritional and food safety of our population, the use of local resources, the generation of low-emission technologies and the adaptation and mitigation to climate change.
We would like to thank you again for your presence, we hope that your stay had been productive and we wish you a happy return to your homes.
We do not say farewell, ¡we will see each other at the next Congreso de Producción Animal PAT 2025!
Thank you very much
